La Digue, Seychelles

Friday | February 27, 2015

Today was a fun, yet exhausting day. After breakfast, we got our stuff together and prepared for our 9 AM snorkeling trip to Ille Coco and Ille Felicite, two small and uninhabited islands of Seychelles.

Emerald bays dotted the landscape with dramatic looking granite boulders, surrounded by white sand and lush greenery. Unexpected were the large, towering mountains that rose from the sea in granite spectacle.

It was a lovely boat and we were with many of our friends. The water was not exactly calm and the dive boat did not have a snorkeling vest so we got rocked quite a bit. I'm glad we endured because we saw an amazing quality and quantity of fish in water as pure as any on earth. Many of the baitfish were over 2 feet long and they seem to surround us at one point. We saw angelfish, clownfish, neons, gar, sea urchins and so much more. On the way back, I fell asleep on the catamaran and enjoyed an incredibly idyllic ride back to the ship.
